Local author John Spencer will visit the library to discuss and sign copies of his Surge series of books. Set in antebellum Illinois, the Surge series recounts, through one man’s journey, the story of a struggling nation experiencing profound and fundamental change. John Spencer lives and works along the picturesque Sangamon River. It was in his role as an assistant to the Historic Sites Director at an Illinois prairie preserve that his interest in antebellum Illinois was piqued. Books will be available to purchase at the program for $7.00
