Residents of the City of Canton are eligible for a library card. Bring in a proof of identification with a photo I.D. (such as a Driver’s License) and a proof of residence (such as a current bill). See our Circulation Policy for more details.
As a general rule, any resident of the Canton school district who lives outside the Canton city limits may obtain a library non-resident card, which is valid for one year. The current cost of a non-resident card is $50 per household. However, per state law, an exemption to this fee is made for veterans with a 70% disability who are exempt from all property taxes. In addition, per state law, and as approved in June 2022 by the Library Board of Trustees, the Library will issue free non-resident cards to all children under the age of 18 years. These non-residents must be living in an area not served by an existing library or library district. For more information, please contact the library at 309-647-0328. Residents of Dunfermline must obtain their library card from Lewistown Carnegie Public Library District.
Children from birth to age 18 are eligible for cards. Parents or legal guardians must show proof of identification and residence per our Circulation Policy.
The library has 9 public access computers that are free to use. These can be reserved for 1 hour increments. Wi-Fi is available during library hours. See the Internet and Computer Use Policy for more details.
